Field Service Technician/Engineer
Summary:
- Provide technical and logistical support to customers for Komline-Sanderson manufactured systems and equipment.
- Position requires extensive travel, including long term assignments, domestic and international.
Job Duties:
- Perform electrical and mechanical start-up and commissioning tasks. Perform PLC and OIT program checks. Verify instrumentation communication. Interface systems with plant communication using required protocols. Perform equipment optimization and tests. Record appropriate initial operation data. Provide K-S with accurate equipment performance reports. Supervise and coordinate start-up efforts from all other K-S product lines and/or outside vendors. Ensure system compliance within the scope of the customer’s performance criteria.
- Develop and implement job specific preventive and corrective maintenance programs. Provide detailed training and instruction to customer’s personnel on maintenance and repairs to K-S provided equipment and systems.
- Develop and implement job specific training programs to cover both class room and hands on operational training. Develop instructor's guides and lesson plans covering all aspects of training on systems and equipment components supplied by K-S.
- Work with customer to review specifications to ensure equipment compliance. Develop acceptable criteria and implement operational requirements to ensure success during equipment trials. Provide customer with a detailed list of all field modifications and/or revisions.
- Provide field drawing mark-ups to K-S designers for "as built" drawing revisions. Review "as built" drawings prior to final release. Review controls and instrumentation with K-S Project Manager and implement a viable process control philosophy.
- Develop start up and commissioning protocols to enable the efficient planning of customer’s schedules. Detail all required electrical and mechanical checkout requirements. Detail procedures for safely performing control logic verifications and instrument communications.
- Co-ordinate the activities of vendors and other on-site personnel.
- Assist in the development of the PLC control logic. Provide technical expertise in the systems control philosophy to designers. Specify operator interface of equipment based upon the needs of the customer. Review all electrical drawings with the PLC program to ensure compliance to customer’s specifications.
- On turn-key systems, provide site review to Project Manager. Perform site inspections with vendors and/or contractors who will be performing or bidding on the installation. Supervise all contractors and inspect all work in progress. Provide progress reports to Project Manager and Customer Representative. Develop and maintain punch lists to track outstanding items and deficiencies for project completion.

Education and Experience preferences:
- Degreed engineer or significant relevant experience and aptitude.
- Minimum five years previous field service engineer experience.
- Proficient in the use of computers and be able to work with programmable controllers, operator interface terminals, read and understand programs, and make any necessary modifications.
- Previous experience working with all contract documents, process flow sheets, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, and operation and maintenance manuals.
Prerequisites:
- Requires the ability to read electrical schematics. Must possess an electrical controls background for equipment start-up and troubleshooting. Should be proficient in use of computers and test equipment.
- Must have knowledge of process equipment control panels, motor starters, AC/DC drives, instrumentation, and PLC programming.
