Senior Quality Assurance Specialist
Summary:
Provides assistance to the Director of Quality Assurance for activities involving quality assurance and compliance with applicable regulatory and manufacturing requirements; conducts audits, reviews/analyzes data and documentation. Requires ten (10) years of experience in a machining, welding, and fabrication environment. Requires working knowledge of commonly used engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
Examines products to make sure they meet Komline-Sanderson and regulatory standards at receiving, in-process, and final inspections. Ensures vendors follow Komline-Sanderson product manufacturing standards and engineering drawings. Works at all stages of production inspecting the materials, goods, components and assemblies that comprise Komline-Sanderson products.
Job Duties:
- Test and inspect products or processes. Evaluate quality and/or performance.
- Must be fluent in ASME Code and be able to review blue prints and drawings.
- Prepare test and inspection reports as required, using MS Office. (Reports shall not be handwritten.)
- Inspect, materials and equipment to Komline-Sanderson and ASME or other pressure vessel code or welding standards, as required.
- Perform vendor evaluations using written guidelines that have been established by the Director of Quality Assurance.
- Determine the causes of technical problems and find solutions.
- Provide on-the-job training to Komline-Sanderson employees and vendors as required.
- Knowledge and/or ability to qualify welders/operators in accordance with PED and ASME Section IX as required of the Director of Quality Assurance. Prepare welder/operators qualification records in accordance with PED or ASME Section IX as a designee of the Director of Quality Assurance.
- Required to use test equipment to include but, not limited to UT gauges, calipers, fillet gages, profilometers, micrometers, durometers, psychcrometers, and other test equipment as required.
- Use and read gauges and dials to determine if the equipment is running properly;
- May direct the activities of the quality control department, in the absence of the Manager.
Employment Standards:
- Must be able to contribute to quality and integrity of the product.
- Must have a good understanding of manufacturing processes with emphasis on our specific products. This includes a working knowledge of piping, structural steel, gears, motors, machinery and fabricating processes. Must have general knowledge of machine components, and basic fabrication and machine shop practices.
- Must be able to read work orders and blueprints.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of welding, welding practices, and welding defects.
- Must have Level II competency from Komline-Sanderson or previous employer in at least one of the following VT, MT, PT, RT or UT methods. Competency may be by job performance or examination. SNT-TC-1A and Komline-Sanderson written practice shall be followed.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and sub-contractors.
- Must be an effective problem solver and have the ability to make sound decisions.
- Must be committed to affect ongoing product improvement.
- Must be able to establish priorities.
- Must continue on-the-job training as required by the position or the Company.
Prerequisites:
- Must have a good working knowledge of the NBIC code, ASME code Sections VIII, IX, II (a, b, c, d), and V.
- Must be able to review ASME Code calculations and engineering drawings to ASME Code Standards and in the absence of the Director of Quality Assurance, perform as his designee.
- Must be able to prepare preliminary WPS's using Section IX of the ASME Code.
- Must be accurate with close attention to detail.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as required, sometimes with limited advance notice.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English Language.
- Should be computer literate, with working knowledge of Excel, Word, etc.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player.
- AAS degree, BS preferred, CAWI or CWI, desired.
